Features

Requirements

Installation

  1. Add the driver to the project and enter the device IP in Device IP, or use Devices on Network > Scan Devices and pick the device from the list.
  2. For WiiM, set http-https to https.
  3. Wait until Connection Status shows connected.
  4. Make the driver's audio connections to the rooms and hide the unused players in each room's properties.

Each driver creates 3 players (Streaming, Bluetooth and USB) besides itself. Hide the unused ones in the room properties.

Never leave a single option in the room's Listen menu: keep another source or the media driver as an option.

Auto Room Select

PropertyDescription
Auto Select RoomWhich sources turn the room on automatically when the device starts playing: Streaming, Bluetooth, USB, All or No (off).
Room to be SelectedRoom that will be turned on with the player when playback starts.

Turn OFF Settings

PropertyDescription
Auto Select Requires PlayWith Yes (default), the room only turns on automatically when the device actually starts playing, for example when someone presses play in the phone app or via AirPlay. This prevents the room from turning on by itself when an app just reconnects to the device or a radio stream reloads. With No, it goes back to the previous behavior: it turns on as soon as the device changes source, even without playing.
Auto Select Quiet After OFF (seconds)After the room is turned off by Control4, the driver will not turn the room back on automatically during this time (default 30 seconds). If someone really presses play during this period and the music keeps playing, the room turns on as soon as the time is over. Zero disables it.
Auto Room Off (minutes)Turns the room off after this time with the music paused or stopped (from the app or from Control4). Zero disables it.
Switch INPUT on turn OFFNull input used when turning off. See Turning the room off: null input.
Set Prompt Voice OFFTurns off the device's voice prompts when the room is turned off.

Volume Settings

PropertyDescription
Current VolumeCurrent device volume (read only).
Volume when Turns OFFSets the volume when turning off. Useful for the device to keep serving audio to others over the network without playing in the room. With -1 the volume is not changed. For players built into the multiroom or connected to their inputs we suggest 99%; never do this on amplified players.
Max Volume LimiterLimits the maximum volume when raised by Control4.

Device IPDevice IP, if you prefer to enter it manually. It must be fixed or reserved.
Polling IntervalTime between queries to the device. Longer times make media information slower to update.

Navigator Tabs

PropertyDescription
Show Presets Tab / Show TuneIn Tab / Show Tidal TabShows or hides each tab in Navigator. E.g. hide the Tidal tab if the client has no Tidal subscription. The change applies the next time the user enters the driver in Navigator. If all are set to No, the Presets tab is still shown.
TuneIn FavoritesShared with other LinkPlay drivers (default): the favorite radio list is the same on every LinkPlay device in the project using this option. This device only: this device keeps its own list.

PropertyDescription
Tidal Country CodeCountry of the Tidal account (default BR).
Tidal ShortcutsSearch shortcuts shown in the Tidal tab, comma separated.
Tidal AccountShows whether a Tidal account is connected to the driver (read only).

Turning the room off: null input

When the room is turned off, the driver stops the music and switches the device to the input chosen in Switch INPUT on turn OFF. Since nothing is connected to that input, the device stays silent and no streaming keeps playing in the background.

On some devices, Tidal music started from Control4 keeps advancing after the stop command (muted) and may start playing again by itself, sometimes turning the room back on. With the right null input this does not happen. As a backup, after turning off the driver checks that the music really stopped and, if not, keeps insisting until it stops.

How to check on site

  1. Play a Tidal playlist from Control4.
  2. Turn the room off and wait about 1 minute.
  3. The progress bar must not keep moving and the music must not come back. If it does, change the input (for example from Optical to Line In) and test again.
Do not use the null input if the device serves audio to other rooms (for example, connected to a controller and distributing audio): set it to No, or Line In.

Browsing in Navigator

Presets

Plays the presets saved on the device. By default they are numbered; to rename, open the preset options and choose Rename Preset, or Rename with Current to use the name of what is playing. Presets are saved from the device's app.

Tidal pause

Some LinkPlay devices ignore the pause command while playing Tidal tracks. So on the first pause the driver automatically tries, one by one, the ways of pausing the device accepts, checks that the music really stopped and remembers the one that worked on that device. From then on it uses the remembered method directly, with no new test.

On some models the only method that works is the null input (the same one used when turning off, usually Line In): the device is switched to that input, the sound stops and the screen shows the paused state. When you press Play, the same track resumes, from where it stopped when the device allows it (otherwise from the start of the track).

The first pause on each device may take a few seconds (sometimes close to half a minute) because of the test. This is normal and happens only once. For the null input method to work, Switch INPUT on turn OFF must point to an input the device really has.
Tidal search (artists)
Collection: account playlists
Navigator labels for TuneIn favorites and the Tidal Collection are currently in Portuguese.

Tidal: connecting the client's account

The client connects the account from the Control4 screen, without Composer access.

  1. In Navigator, open Tidal > Coleção > Conectar conta Tidal.
  2. Scan the QR code with the phone, or open 4drivers.com.br/tidal and type the code shown on screen.
  3. Sign in to Tidal on the phone. When "Pronto!" appears, go back to Control4 and tap Já fiz o login.

The account stays connected after driver updates and controller reboots. To change accounts, use Desconectar conta Tidal at the end of the Collection, or the Tidal - Disconnect Account action in Composer.

For playback, the device uses the Tidal account signed in on its own app. If a list does not start, Control4 shows "Tidal não iniciou no aparelho" (Tidal did not start on the device): check the account in the device's app.

Connections and Multiroom

Connections for the device's physical inputs (when available on the model): Line In, Optical and HDMI.

The LinkPlay Network 1, 2, 3... and Out To LinkPlays connections let Control4 understand audio distribution between players over the network. Connect the Out To LinkPlays output of one device to the LinkPlay Network inputs of the others that will be in multiroom.

Do not make these connections when the players are built into the multiroom (audio matrices) or connected to the inputs of those devices.

A source connected to one of the devices (TV or any audio) can be distributed to the others over the network.

Device receiving the TV or another distributed source: set Volume when Turns OFF to zero and Switch INPUT on turn OFF to No. The client can then turn this room off and keep listening in the others.

Showing sources in rooms

Keep visible only the device's own players (streaming, Bluetooth, USB), plus conventional sources connected to it or other players.

First Tidal pause is slowNormal: on the first pause the driver tests the device's pause method. After that, pausing is immediate.
"Tidal não iniciou no aparelho"Tidal account not signed in (or the wrong one) on the device's app.
